In Traditional Chinese Medicine our “energy” is known as Chee or Qi. To keep our Qi flowing freely we need to find balance in life.

Acupuncture touches and moves this energy through points in channels (meridians), which flow over the surface of the body and percolate through every part of our being.

Disposable fine needles are used to stimulate or calm the energy. A herb known as “moxa” (mugwort) may also be burned on the point to warm and nurture.

The choice of points used is based on a traditional diagnosis, through taking the pulses, looking at the tongue and listening to your history and concerns.

More and more acupuncture is seen as complementary to Western medicine and is often prescribed as an adjunct to traditional treatments. Surgical recovery times are often better when acupuncture is used in conjunction with Western medicine. It helps the body assimilate medications and can reduce their side effects without decreasing their efficacy.

Acupuncture treatment often leads to a new sense of balance and relaxation in the body and the mind. It is my belief that this is the key to healing - symptoms will lessen and disappear as treatment progresses.
