The Foundation’s core objective is to boost the quality of school education in the communities served by AV volunteers. In order to ensure maximum impact,we focus our fundraising efforts around one flagship project in each of the principal countries in which AV operates. Our projects focus on:
- providing new or refurbished buildings for school classrooms, libraries, washrooms and kitchens
- supplying books, teaching materials and sports equipment
- financing teachers’ costs and training expenses
- financing pupil subsidy schemes or bursaries to cover school fees, transport costs and other education-related expenses
Wherever possible, in fulfilling the core objective of the AV Foundation, the Trustees will work with and support former AV volunteers who are committing their time and energy to working with the schools and communities where they spent time as volunteers. AV’s strength at grassroots level, with its network of in-country representatives, enables the Foundation to:
- establish genuine community needs
- closely monitor the implementation of projects
- ensure that funds are properly spent
As all the Foundation’s overheads are absorbed by AV, we have no administrative expenses. This ensures that every penny donated goes directly into the rural projects that we support . |
